NC Hills bandh called on May 10

Haflong, May 8 (UNI) A number of tribal organisations have called a 12-hour North Cachar Hills district bandh on May 10 in protest against the creation of new Assembly constituencies in the district.

Organisations and political leaders of the Zeme tribe contends that the creation of new constituencies in the district by the delimitation exercise has been done ignoring the Zeme-Nagas' 'genuine demand' for Asalu and Hezaichak constituencies.

Condemning the casual role of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous District Council towards their demands, the organisations have appealed to the people of NC Hills to co-operate with them and observe the bandh peacefully.
