Muslim delegation calls Anees Ahmed over Wakf properties
Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) A delegation of Muslim intellectuals and scholars, led by Dr Azeemudden Khatkhate and Dawood Khan, secretary of the Bombay Aman Committee, today called on the Minister of Dairy and Wakf Anees Ahmed and demanded a special probe into the sale or lease of various Wakf properties in Maharashtra.
The delagation alleged that prime properties of Wakf had been either leased out or sold at throw-away prices by the Chairman and members of the Board.
The delagation also demanded the minister to implement the verdict of the one-member panel, known as the Kadiri Committee, which had been set up by the government earlier to look into the alleged irregularities committed by the senior Wakf Board officials.
The Kadiri Panel, in its report, had recommended a thorough probe into the issue.
The minister assured that he would look into their demands.
He also ordered that 25 listed Wakf properties across the State, which have been leased out or sold, should be restored.
