Kashmiri stall attracts Prince of Bahrain at 3rd BITE
Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) A stall set up by the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department at 3rd Bahrain International Trade Expo (BITE) was the main attraction of the visitors, including crown prince of Bahrain Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad Alkhalefi, on its opening day of the three-day exhibition at Bahrain today.
Prince Salman during his visit to stall showed a keen interest in Kashmiri handicrafts, carpets, walnut wood, shawals and other articles.
He promised the three-member delegation of the tourism department headed by its director Farooq Ahmad Shah that a large number of people from his country would visit the Kashmir valley this summer.
Prince was later presented a pashmina shawl by Mr Shah on behalf of the government and people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Shah told UNI over phone from Bahrain that about 30,000 people were expected to visit the exhibition.
He said people who visited the stall show keen interest in wooden house boats and other Kashmiri crafts.
''Our focus will be to attract a good number of tourists from West Asia and fareast,'' Mr Shah said, adding a large number of tourists from Gulf were expected to visit the Kashmir valley this summer.
He said Bahrain citizens expressed their desire to visit Kashmir in the next two months.
