IUML, CPI(M) activists clash in Thaliparamba
Kannur, Kerala, May 8 (UNI) Police today used rubber bullets and teargas shells to disperse CPI(M) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) activists, who unleashed violence at Thaliparamba in this district of Kerala.
A tense situation prevailed in the area after IUML activists allegedly pelted stones at a vehicle carrying CPI(M) activists last night. Eight people suffered injuries in the stone pelting and subsequent clashes.
A hartal was observed in the area by the CPI(M), police said.
A super market was damaged by the hartal supporters this morning, causing damage to the tune of Rs eight lakh. In an apparent retaliation, four houses belonging to the CPI(M) activists were attacked this afternoon.
