Haryana to conduct survey to identify disabled persons

Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) The Haryana government will conduct a survey to identify disabled persons in the state so that proper treatment could be given to enable them earn their livelihood.

This was stated by Haryana Governor A R Kidwai while addressing a state level function on the occasion of the World Red Cross Day organized by the Indian Red Cross Society and Haryana Red Cross Society at Kaithal today.

Dr Kidwai said that Haryana had become the first state in the country to produce scientific goods and bring maximum area under cultivation.

Lauding the role of the Red Cross Society, he said the organisation had earned a name in the field of social service and providing basic health and educational facilities to the children of the state.

The Governor gave away tricycles, hearing aids and appliances, sewing machines and spectacles to the handicapped persons.

Presiding over the function Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said the main aim of the Red Cross was to provide help to the needy people of the society but the benefit of these schemes was not reaching in the rural areas. He stressed the need for a special programe to make these schemes more effective.
