Haryana offers subsidy to promote solar heating
Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) With a view to popularising the Solar Water Heating System and encouraging the employees to opt for it, the Haryana Government has earmarked a sum of Rs. one crore this financial year to provide a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per 100 LPD system subject to the maximum of Rs. 10,000 upto 200 LPD system.
The Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that initially this programme would be implemented for the employees of Haryana Governent residing at Chandigarh and Delhi and in district headquarters having their own or government houses. He said that subsequently it would be extended in the whole of the state.
He said that as much as 1.50 lakh litres per day solar water heating system had been installed in the state during the last year which was the 125 per cent higher than the previous year 2005-06. This system has been installed at 74 different sites in various categories like industrial, domestic, commercial and institutional in the State.
Mr Chander Mohan said that there was a great potential of energy saving by installation of domestic water heating system besides promoting pollution free environment.
While enumerating the detail of the conservation of power by installing the system he said that a 100 litre per day (LPD) solar water heating system could save about 1200 unit of power annually so by installing 1000 such type of system could contribute to save 1 MW of power during the peak load. He said that solar water heating system of 100 LPD capacity prevented the emission of about 1.5 tonnes of carbandioxide annually.
While referring the subsidies being given by the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency he said that to provide benefit of the latest technology to the consumers, Haryana Government had decided to provide rebate on power bill in domestic sector at the rate of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 300 per month for a period of three years from the installation of the system.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government had made the use of Solar Water Heating Systems mandatory in industries where hot water was required for processing, hospital and nusring homes besides all the residential buildings built up over 500 sq yards land and above falling within the limit of municipal committees and HUDA sectors.
