Former ONGC Chairman Subhir Raha to work for Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 8 (UNI) The Rajasthan government has appointed former Oil and Natural Gas Commission(ONGC) Chairman Subhir Raha as consultant for representing the state at negotiation with ONGC for setting up of oil refinery project in Rajasthan.

Rajasthan government's spokesman and Forest Minister Laxmi Narain Dave said here today that Mr Raha would ensure safeguard of the state interests in negotiation with ONGC, to be held for finalising the package for the project.

Mr Raha would be paid consolidated consultation fee of Rs 10 lakh, Mr Dave said.

It is to recall that ONGC had Rs 12,000 crore project for setting up of refinery in Barmer district for which it had reportedly sought a concession package of around Rs 26,000 crore from the state government.

Mr Raha would negotiate to finalise the package in the most possible rational way, safeguarding the state government's interests.

Three sites, including one in Lilamba, in Barmer and neighbouring Jalore districts were under consideration for setting up of the project.
