Dy Comdt Ranjan appointed Manager in ReCAAP ISC

Rajkot, May 8 (UNI) Deputy Commandant Bibhuti Ranjan of the Coast Guard has been appointed Manager in the Research Department of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) Information Sharing Centre (ISC).

Comdt Ranjan has been appointed in the Research Department of the ReCAAP ISC from May 2. He will assist in verifying and gathering information, with ISC's focal points, on incidents reported as well as collating and analysing the information for the trends, an official release said here today.

The ReCAAP ISC is an intergovernmental organisation is based in the Republic of Singapore, and its primary roles are to exchange information on the incidence of piracy and armed robbery in the Asian region, to publish reports and analyses on trends of piracy and armed robbery, to facilitate capacity-building of the ReCAAP Contracting Parties, and to undertake cooperative arrangements and exercises.

India is one of five ReCAAP contracting parties that has seconded an officer to staff the ReCAAP ISC for a period of two years, the release added.
