Defeated in one council, MNF regains power in another

Aizawl, May 8 (UNI) The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) lost the Mara Autonomous District Council to the Congress-Maraland Democratic Front (MDF) alliance.

The Congress and MDF alliance 15 seats, while the MNF bagged seven.

The Congress secured eight seats, while its ally MDF got seven.

Counting of votes was completed this morning.

The Mara Council was dissolved in last March following the ruling MNF's failure to retain majority.

The Lai Council was also suspended for the same reason.
