'Dead' terrorist moves court for protection

Chandigarh, may 8 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice to the Punjab government and other respondents on the petition of 'dead' terrorist Harcharan Singh from Amritsar seeking protection of his life.

The notice was issued by the Division Bench of Justice S Sathasivam and Justice Rajive Bhalla on a petition filed by Harcharan Singh.

Harcharn Singh has submitted that in 1993 the Punjab Police had declared him dead in an encounter which took place in Madhya Pradesh.

However, he was very much alive and could now be eliminated, hence he has prayed for security in his petition.
