Counterfeit notes deposited in Karur Vysya Bank

Mysore, May 8 (UNI) Karur Vysia Bank, Mysore Branch, today received counterfeit notes by a customer to the tune of Rs 1.63 lakhs.

Police said that the Bank Manager in a complaint has stated that in a deposit of Three lakhs made by Sonaskhi Jewelers Rs 1.63 lakhs were found to be fake notes.

The fake notes were handedover to the Police. It was also said that the cashier did not properly verify the notes while receiving them. Of the counterfeit notes received 73 were of Rs 1000 and 181 notes of Rs 500.

Police have registered a case and investigating.
