Shimla, May 8 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) today said that the party has intensified its election campaign to ensure victory for its candidates in the ensuing Shimla Municipal Corporation elections.

Addressing mediapersons here, party spokesman Kuldeep Singh Rathore said the party was aggressively campaigning for its candidates with a strategy for the planned development of the town.

Criticising the BJP for terming its manifesto old wine in new bottle, he said Congress had fulfilled various commitments during its tenure in the corporation.

''People have faith in our developmental policies and so our triumph in the MC polls is confirmed.'' Mr Rathore said Shimla had witnessed significant development in the last few years with the Congress initiating work on the Giri water project, worth Rs 66 crore.

The water scheme would be made operational by October two this year and would solve the water scarcity of the town for the next thirty year, he said.

He said the party was approaching the people with its future plans for the town besides informing them about the promises that have been fulfilled by it.

The feedback that the party had received from the people was indicative that it would maintain its hold over the Shimla MC, he added.
