Congress claims to win 2008 Assembly Elections in Nagaland
Kohima, May 8 (UNI) Pepsonified the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is confidence as it is bracing its frontal organisations to contest the February 2008, Assembly Elections in the state.
Speaking to mediapersons here, NPCC President Hokheto Sumi today said he has ruled out any pre-poll alliance with other ''like-minded'' parties and that the Congress will go it alone.
While the assembly election preparations were on, Mr Hokheto claimed that the Congress party will come to power in the State Assembly in the next elections.
He said preparations for the next Assembly Elections have already been taken up from the grass roots level and aspirants are coming in for their candidacy in the assembly constituencies.
On the return of former Nagaland chief minister and present Governor of Goa, S C Jamir, Mr Hokheto said the NPCC was still taking advice from Mr Jamir since he was the senior most leader to join the state politics.
Reacting to claims made by former BJP state unit president and Parliamentary Secretary M C Konyak that BJP will win 15 seats in the coming elections, Mr Hokheto remarked that the BJP was gradually vanishing from the state.
''In the recently concluded by-elections in the state, BJP was able to manage only one seat out of two '' he added.
