CM rules out any conspiracy in death of infants
Thiruvananthapuram, May 8 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today ruled out any conspiracy behind the death of newborns in the Sree Avittam Thirunal (SAT) Hospital here and said the natural death of infants should not be wrongly projected.
''Earlier also there were deaths of new borns. But this time the issue was highlighted,'' he told reporters after visiting the SAT hospital.
Earlier, Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan had stated that there was a conspiracy behind the whole episode.
Expressing satisfaction over the measures taken by the Health Department for tackling the situation, Mr Achuthanandan said the facilities in the SAT would be increased considering the number of patients coming to the hospital for treatment.
Mr Achuthanandan said the government had already appointed 50 nurses, 25 cleaning staff and ten each in technical and security section at the SAT.
Stating that the hospital was accommodating patients more than its capacity, he said to solve the existing staff pattern the government had appointed a committee to discuss the issue with the employees.
