BJP fields P K Dhumal from Hamirpur Lok Sabha bypoll

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) The Central Election Committee of the BJP today decided to field former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal as the party's nominee for the June 2 Hamirpur Lok Sabha byelection.

A decision to this effect was taken by a meeting attended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leaders of Opposition L K Advani and Jaswant Singh and BJP President Rajnath Singh.

The party also cleared 32 nominees including former Goa Chief Minister M K Parikkar for the Goa Assembly polls while eight more would be announced later.

For the Ullal Assembly bypolls in Mangalore District, the party fielded Mr Chandrashekhar Uchala. He had lost the seat by a margin of 6,000 votes in the General elections.

The party would choose its nominees for two byelections in Chhattisgarh and one from Madhya Pradesh in consultation with the local party, BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar told newspersons after the meeting.
