BJP demands resignation of Shahabuddin
Patna, May 8: BJP in Bihar today demanded resignation of RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin from Parliament in the wake of his life sentence in a kidnapping case.
In a statement here, party's state general secretary Mangal Pandey said for the past many years Bihar was reeling under unabated terror regime unleashed by Md Shahabuddin and his conviction by a Special Court in a CPI(ML) leader Chetelal Gupta's kidnapping case would usher in an 'era of politics without criminal elements'.
''Earlier regime of RJD had encouraged criminal elements to join politics and patronised them for political gains'',he alleged and hoped that people would now muster enough courage to reject all candidates having criminal antecedents in elections.
''Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee should terminate the house membership of Mohammad Shahabuddin with immediate effect'', he said adding that such precedents had already been set by him in cash for query scam.
