AP police not involved in Gujarat fake encounters: DGP
Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) M A Basith today categorically denied any ''official'' or ''unofficial'' involvement of the state police in the Gujarat fake encounters case.
''There is no official or unofficial support to the Gujarat police in handing over the two victims to them. No unofficial help was rendered by AP police to Gujarat. But, we don't know if any individual helped the Gujarat police,'' DGP Basith told a news conference.
He asserted that no offence had taken place in Andhra Pradesh even as per the Gujarat reports.
The DGP said the state police had obtained the affidavit filed by Gujarat government in the Supreme Court. ''We will take necessary action if the Gujarat CID team, probing into the fake encounters, points out any involvement of an AP police official.'' The Andhra police would cooperate with their Gujarat counterparts in the case ''as per the rules and regulations'', he informed.
He said no probe would be done into the ''wild allegations'' against the state police's involvement in the controversial shootouts.
Admitting suspended IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian, an accused in the case, had arrived in Hyderabad in 2005, as part of the investigation into the task force office blast in the city, Mr Basith said ''We cannot suspect other state police officials when they come on official duty to our state.''
