AP Govt should come out with water policy: CPI
Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) in Andhra Pradesh today demanded that the State Government should come out with its water policy to remove misapprehensions in the minds of the people of different regions in the state.
Addressing a press conference here, Party state secretary K Narayana asked the government to address the issues raised by dissident Congress leaders P Janardhan Reddy and P Sasidhar Reddy and leaders of other parties relating to use of Krishna waters.
The government should not succumb to pressure from within and outside the Congress when it came to protection of the interests of the dry Rayalaseema region, he said.
The capacity of the Pottireddypadu Head Regulator, originally designed to meet the drinking water needs of Chennai, should be enhanced to meet the water requirement under the Telugu Ganga, Hangrineeva and other projects in the Rayalaseema region, he demanded.
