AP DGP denies summons to people's representatives
Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police M A Basith today denied that the police has decided to issue summons to MPs and MLAs whose names figured in the sensational human trafficking case.
Addressing the Press here, he said ''a discreet inquiry is needed in such cases and also documentary evidence from four separate agencies -- police, passport office, immigration and airport authorities -- before any action is taken.'' To a question, he said no decision had been taken to issue summons to the MLAs and MPs against whom allegations have been levelled.
During police interrogation, city-based travel agent Rasheed, the alleged kingpin of the racket, had revealed that TRS MPs A Narendra, Madhusudan Reddy and Ravindra Naik, MLAs K Lingaiah and S Bapu Rao and former TDP MP Suguna Kumari, as well as some other MLAs and former Ministers were involved in smuggling people out of the counrty on fake passports and travel documents.
