Amendment to Revenue Act for purchase of land directly from farmers

Bangalore, May 8 (UNI) The Karnataka government contemplating to bring an amendment to the Revenue Act for facilitating private industrialists to purchase land needed for them directly from the farmers, Minister for Large Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu said today.

Speaking to newsmen, here he said that at present the land was made available to the industrialists through Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) which was acquiring the land for them. The process was leading to inordinate delay and hence it was proposed to bring amendment to Sec 79 A and 79 B for the purpose.

"The move would not only help to save valuable time but also gets better price for the farmers", he added.

Mr Naidu said that it was proposed to extend power subsidy and relaxation of VAT for five years for the industries established in the most backward taluks in the State. About 134 taluks have been identified as backward taluks and the move to extend tax sops and power subsidy would attract more entrepreneurs to establish industries in the backward areas.

He said that it was also proposed to give Capital Subsidy to the Wind Mills which comes forward to supply power to the industries at the subsidised tariff.

Replying to questions, the Minister said that during September a state level Small and Medium Industries Convention would be held in Bangalore.

He said that Rs 210 crores was released towards subsidy arrears to the Small and Medium industries.

Mr Naidu said that under 'Suvarna Kayaka' scheme over 40,000 youth have got employment in various industries and expressed confidence that the one-lakh target would be reached by this year end. Except IT and BT industries there was overwhelming response to the state's scheme he claimed.
