Dharamshala, May 8 (UNI) Five members of a family were arrested for abetting their daughter-in-law to commit suicide in a village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, police sources today said.
Reeta Devi, married to Preetam Singh nine years back, committed suicide after being allegedly tortured for more dowry by her in laws in Santala village of the district recently, her father said in his complaint to the police.

On an earlier occasion, the panchayat had mediated in the issue but nothing had come of it as she committed suicide, he said.
''My daughter was tortured, beaten up by her husband Preetam Singh, mother-in-law Sukha Devi, and father-in-law Bir Singh, her brother-in-law, Kewal Singh, and sister-in-law Sudharshana, that ultimately forced her to commit suicide,'' he said.
