2 US soldiers shot dead at Afghanistan prison

Kabul, May 7: A man in Afghan army uniform shot dead two U.S. soldiers at the high-security Pul-i-Charkhi prison on the eastern outskirts of Kabul, the US military said.

The soldier shot at vehicles leaving the Afghan prison yesterday, US coalition forces said in a statement. Two other American soldiers were wounded in the incident.

''Other Afghan National Army soldiers providing external security for the prison rushed to the aid of the US personnel and fatally shot the rogue soldier,'' the military said.
