Top HM commander killed; ammunition recovered in Jammu
Jammu, May 7 (UNI) Security forces today gunned down a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) near Bhaderwah town of Doda district and recovered a huge cache of ammunition, including two IEDs, six detonators and five UBGL grenades, in Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said.
A joint team of 4 Rashtriya Rifle and Police's STF shot dead a locally-trained HM militant after an hour-long operation at Qilla Mohallah, near Bhaderwah town, the spokesman said, adding, the militant was hiding in a house.
The slain militant, identified as Irshad Ahmed Khan, a resident of by Sumblee village, was the self-styled 'Tehsil Commander' of HM.
In another incident, troops recovered two IEDs (in form of metal), one pipe of two feet filled with explosives, 500 gm gelatin, six detonators, five UBGL grenades, one 12 bore single barrel rifle and two Chinese hand grenades, from a natural cave type hideout at Richon in Kishtwar, spokesman informed.
