TN Govt assurance to AIADMK MLA on 'vandalism incident'

Chennai, May 7 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government will take action against those involved in the attack on the residence of Opposition AIADMK MLA V P Kalairajan at Orathanad recently, Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy told the State Assembly today.

The Minister gave this reply when the AIADMK member said the culprits involved in the incident were not brought to book despite Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's announcement in the House.

Mr Veerasamy assured that action would be taken and said the government would not allow such incidents targeting MLAs, irrespective of the party they belonged.

When Mr Kalairajan alleged the culprits were left scot free, the Minister said ''those involved in the incident, whoever they may be, will be arrested,'' and urged the member not to attribute any motives.

In this context, Mr Veerasamy recalled it took one and a half years to bring to book the killers of Former AIADMK Gummidipoondi MLA K Sudarsanam.
