Hyderabad, May 7 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today threatened to launch a massive agitation with the cooperation of other political parties for implementation of all irrigation projects on River Godavari for which there was assured allocation of water.

Talking to newspersons here, Party Senior Leaders Ch Rajeswara Rao and T Devender Goud alleged while 84 per cent of the catchment area of River Godavari was in Telangana Region, the government was trying to divert the water to the Krishna Delta without completing pending projects in Telangana.

He alleged while Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had promised that flood water of River Krishna would be taken only from the Pothireddipadu Head Regulator, the government was now planning to divert water allocated to Sagar and supplement it with water from Godavari.

The TDP has posed eight questions on the propriety of diversion, Mr Goud said, adding that his party would wait till the Chief Minister returned from the US and then convene a meeting with all like-minded parties before launching a massive agitation for completion of projects like Devadula and Pranahita in Telangana on River Godavari.
