SKIMS Director replaced as per J

Srinagar, May 7 (UNI) In compliance with the Jammu and Kashmir High Court directions, the state government has replaced Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Director Dr Sheikh Jalal with Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar, an official spokesman said today.

He said Prof Zargar would be the in-charge director of SKIMS, Soura, with immediate effect.

Dr Zargar was the head of department of Endocrinology at SKIMS.

On April 18, the High Court had quashed the appointment of Dr Jalal as the SKIMS Director.

The court orders came on a writ petition filed by Dr Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, challenging the appointment of Dr Jalal as SKIMS Director on several grounds, including his age.

A single bench of Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain termed Dr Jalal as ineligible for the post and asked the state government to make immediate arrangements for placing an eligible candidate as in-charge SKIMS Director till the competent authority made a proper selection in accordance with the rules UNI
