RKMS comes forward to cure cleft lip and cleft palate
Purulia, May 7 (UNI) Leading life with a dysfunctional organ can be painful but the treatment is not far fetched even for the poor.
Rama Krishna Mission Sevasram (RKMS), Varanasi, for the past two years has been providing surgical treatment to the cleft lips and cleft palates patients under the project-'Smile Trial.' Talking to UNI here, Dr Jayanto Kumar Tapadar, Project Director, RKMS, said '' BPL families were given free treatment as they cannot afford to pay the cost of the operation which comes to around Rs 15,000.'' Out of 2,000 patients, who received treatment by the RKMS for this inborn disease, 1,300 were from Purulia, Bankura, Nadia, Burdwan, Midnapore, Birbhum and Murshidabad districts, Dr Tapadar said.
''We also register cases from states outside Bengal,'' he said adding RKMS had also attended to patients from Chandigarh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
