Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) With the Assembly elections nearly two years away, plugging loopholes in the organisational structure dominated the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) meeting, which began here today.

The meeting was attended by State and district-level officebearers, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, State unit president Arun Gujarathi and other senior leaders like Chhagan Bhujbal, Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil, Dilip Walse-Patil among others.

The meeting reviewed the party's performance in the recently concluded civic elections to urban and rural local bodies. It also expressed satisfaction at the progress made by the party at the grassroots level, party spokesman Madan Bafna said.

Mr Bafna said the party had received complaints from officebearers about anti-party activities of workers in the elections. A disciplinary committee will be set up to look into the allegations.

Mr Gujarathi and Mr R R Patil would go through the report and recommendations of the committee and take neccessary action.

He said the committee will be constituted in a day or two and its report is expected in a month's time.

Similarly, Mr Bafna said the party has also decided to take steps to curb groupism and differences between party workers and leaders in different districts of the State. The initiative will be taken at the grassroot level and if the neccessary results are not achieved, the State leadership would intervene to resolve the disputes, he said adding that the extended working committee meeting will be held tomorrow.
