No respite for Kolkatans from summer heat

Kolkata, May 7 (UNI) Partly cloudy sky since morning has brought some respite to the Kolkatans from the gruelling summer heat.

But, much to their dismay, their was no trace of rainfall in the city or its suburbs.

Maximum temperature soared to 35.6 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.6 degree Celsius, two degrees above normal, Alipore Met officials said.

The maximum relative humidity was pegged at 86 per cent and the minimum at 46 per cent.

However, there was a silver lining with Met office sources predicting possibility of rain or thundershowers towards the evening or night.

The maximum temperature for the next 24 hours would be around 36 degree Celsius.
