Nine hardcore militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, May 7 (UNI) Nine hardcore militants of different organisations were nabbed in four separate incidents during the last 24 hours in Manipur, police said today.

Thoubal Superintendent of Police S Ibocha said a day long operation was launched at Thoubal district yesterday and a hardcore cadre, holding the rank of ''lieutenant'', and a sympathiser of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak(PREPAK) were nabbed. A mobile phone was recovered from them.

Later, more operations were launched and five more senior cadres of the United National Liberation Front(UNLF) were nabbed and a car was also recovered from them, the SP added.

In another incident, a cadre of the People's Liberation Army(PLA) was nabbed by troops of 22 Maratha Light Infantry from his home, Asom Rifles(AR) sources said.

In yet another incident, troops of 4 AR arrested a cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup(KYKL).
