New record of 30.71 lakh MTs wheat arrival in Haryana

Chandigarh, May 7 (UNI) A new record of arrival of wheat has been set up as 30.71 lakh million tons (MTs) of wheat has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far as against 29.21 lakh MTs during the corresponding period of last year.

Out of total arrival 90 per cent wheat has been purchased by the six government procuring agencies as they have purchased 27.63 lakh MTs of wheat, Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan said here today.

He said during the rabi season last year, 22.30 lakh MTs wheat was purchased by the procurement agencies while 6.91 lakh MTs wheat more had been purchased this year as against the last year.

While enumerating the details of purchase of the wheat by six government agencies, he said HAFED had procured 10.63 lakh MTs, Food and Supplies Department had procured 6.61 lakh MTs of wheat, Food Corporation of India 3.03 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.71 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.48 lakh MTs of wheat and Confed 2.15 lakh MTs.

The deputy chief minister said the Sirsa district was still ahead of the all districts of the state with the arrival of 4.97 lakh MTs followed by Fatehabad 4.29 lakh MTs, Karnal 4.18 lakh MTs, Kaithal 4.15 lakh MTs, Jind 3.87 lakh MTs, Kurukshetra 2.78 lakh MTs, Panipat 1.42 lakh MTs, Ambala 94,035 MTs, Sonipat 73,005 MTs and Yamunanagar 70,763 MTs.

Mr Chander Mohan reteriated that the farmers should bring maximum wheat in the mandis so that record wheat could be contributed in the Central Pool for the food security of the country.
