JKLF's journey for independence from May 20
Srinagar, May 7 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) today rescheduled its ''safar-e-azadi (journey for independence)'' for May 20 and threatened an indefinite hunger strike from May 26 if the state government disallowed the group's campaign on wheels.
Addressing a news conference here, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik said they would embark on the journey from Daksum and Kokernag areas of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.
He threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike if the state government once again disallowed the JKLF to launch its campaign.
Malik was arrested by police in Kokernag area and later released here on May 5, a day ahead of his scheduled ''safar-e-azadi''.
Police had also seized the specially designed vehicle meant for the road journey.
The journey is part of the JKLF's three-month campaign on wheels -- ''Peace in South Asia: Kashmir first and Kashmiri first'' -- to launch efforts to resolve the vexed issue and seek the inclusion of the people of the state in the ongoing peace and reconciliation process between India and Pakistan.
