IT exports rise 39.05 pc in FY07

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Country's IT exports swelled 39.05 per cent at Rs 1,58,500 crore during the last fiscal, Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) estimates said today.

''We are optimistic about the solid growth in IT exports in the next fiscal end going by the present trend,'' said ESC Chairman Sanjiv Narayan.

The analysis based on the exports of electronic hardware, computer software and services and ITeS estimated the growth at 38.28 per cent from April 2006 to March 2007 as against the industry target of 33 per cent.

It stated computer software and services as the key drivers of the estimated export surge with a growth of 40 per cent which increased to Rs 1,05,000 crore in 2007 as against Rs 75,000 crore during 2005-06. These were followed by ITeS and electronic hardware.

''The estimated growth of the computer software and services surged 40 per cent expressing hope for a better export performance during the current fiscal,'' Mr Narayan added.

Electronic hardware exports are estimated to have grown by 29.87 per cent during 2006-07 over the previous year. The analysis also drew an increase in the export of electronic hardware to Rs 12,500 crore as against Rs 9625 crore in the previous year.

ITeS exports during 2006-07 registered a growth of 36.67 per cent increasing to Rs 41,000 crore, up from Rs 30,000 crore in the previous year.
