UP: Irate villagers set ablaze police vehicle
Lucknow, May 7: An agitated mob of villagers attacked the police personnel charging them with setting afire the house of a resident of Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh.
Police today said homeguard Ramkumar of Tihiri village had a dispute with his uncle Devidayal over a piece of land. Both fought over the issue of raising wall on the disputed land yesterday.
The construction work began after the police permitted Ramkumar to go ahead. Irritated by this, Devidayal collapsed the wall and torched his own house.
The fire brigade personnel who reached the spot also had to face the ire of the villagers and a jeep was set ablaze in the process.
Four people were sent to jail in this regard and a sub-inspector O P Gautam has been suspended for dereliction of duty.
