Govt to allow cultivation on de-mined fields along Indo-Pak border
Jammu, May 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government will soon allow the farmers to start cultivation on their lands -- near Indo-Pak border -- after the de-mining of fields along the zero point, Assembly Speaker Tara Chand said here today.
The information was given at a meeting of the concerned departments convened by the Speaker to review the progress on handing over of the de-mined land to the owners and construction of housing colonies for rehabilitation of six thousand displaced border families.
It was decided at the meeting that within one week the farmers would be given the checks for tracterisation and clearing of their de-mined fields.
For the purpose, a team headed by the Tehsildar would visit the de-mined areas and identify the owners and their land in the areas where the de-mining has been completed.
The farmers, whose land have been de-mined, would be given financial assistance of about eight thousand for tracterisation, the meeting was informed.
The project plan for constructing the cluster of houses for rehabilitating the displaced border families was also discussed.
Mr Tara Chand asked the concerned departments to take up the demarcation of the plots where ever the land has been acquired.
He also called for a close coordination among the departments, including R&B, Power and PHE, and said all of them should start the work simultaneously, to avoid any confusion at the later stage.
