Govt grants Rs 10 lakh for dubbing film on B R Ambedkar

Chennai, May 7 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government would grant an assistance of Rs ten lakh for dubbing a film on Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, in Tamil, Information and Publicity Minister Parithi Ellamvazhuthi announced in the State Assembly today.

Responding to the issue raised by Mr V P Kalairajan (AIADMK) during the debate on grants for Information and Publicity Department, he said the film was being produced by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and was being dubbed in all the languages.

''It will also be dubbed in Tamil and the government will give Rs ten lakh for it. A Government Order (GO) to this effect will be issued soon'', he said and added that the film would be screened by NFDC before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

A GO would also be issued for celebrating the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai all over the State.

The Minister also announced that he would hold talks with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on setting up a memorial for heroes of Language stir as demanded by Mr Kalairajan.

He also announced tax exemption for the film 'Periyar'', which depicted the life history of the rationalist leader.
