Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) The fourth phase of the Rs 13,000 crore Bandra Worli Sealink project will be completed by April 2008, Maharasthra Public Works Minister Anil Deshmukh said today.

He told mediapersons that about 55 per cent of physical work had been completed out of the six-kilometer long sealink.

The work on the fifth phase, which extends from Worli to Nariman Point, will be started by the year-end, Mr Deshmukh said.

Malaysian company Gamuda Ber Heid and Reliance Energy have emerged as successful bidders for the last and final phase of the project, which costs Rs 4,000 crore.

According to a survey carried out by IIT-Mumbai on the traffic load on the eight-lane bridge, which will have two lanes exclusively reserved for buses, an average 1,20,000 vehicles will ply through the sealink per day.

The bridge will have 16 lane toll plaza with automated toll collection system. A toll tax of Rs 30 will be levied on light four wheeler vehicles whereas it will be Rs 60 for the heavy vehicles.

The Worli Bandra Sea Link begins at the Mahim interchange at the northern end and joins Khan Abdul Gaffar Road on the Worli Sea face at the Southern end. This link connects Bandra to Worli by a 4 km long bridge.
