FDI flows to 38 Indian companies for education sector

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been received by 38 Indian companies in the education sector during the last two years.

Moreover, three Indian institutions have been approved by the All India Council of the for Technical Education for foreign collaboration programmes, Minister for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today.

She said some proposals from indian Education Providers for collaboration with foreign universities/institutions to impart technical education in the country leading to award of Diploma, Degree, including post-graduate degrees were being processed.

The Government has allowed FDI upto 100 per cent on automatic route in the Education Sector subject to certain rules and regulations.

The All India Council for Technical Education has regulations in place for entry and operation by the Foreign Educational Institutions.
