Fake caste certificate lands councillor in trouble

Kolhapur, May 7 (UNI) The win of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) councillor Dhananjay Sawant, has been declared invalid by Deputy Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh after taking into consideration the order of the Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee.

KMC Deputy Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh told mediapersons that a letter cancelling his councillorship has been issued to Sawant today in compliance with the order of the Pune Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, that had declared Sawant's caste certificate invalid on April 21.

Sawant had provided a fake caste certificate during the civic election. Which was challenged by the rival candidate, who lost the election, Mr Deshmukh added.
