Digging to find out remains of Kausar Bi completed

Ahmedabad, May 7 (UNI) Digging was completed today by an eight-member CID team at two sites in arrested IPS officer D G Vanjhara's Illol village of Sabarkantha district to find out remains of Kausar Bi, wife of Sheikh Sohrabuddin, killed in a fake encounter in Gujarat.

The digging was carried out since yesterday by a team of CID (crime) investigators, led by IGP Geeta Johri, assisted by local villagers. After a search of Vanzara's bungalow. they had also demolished a room built on a well near the bungalow.

The state government has so far suspended Vanzara and R K Pandian, a senior intelligence officer.

''Vanjhara and his team of Anti Terrorists' Squad had allegedly set ablaze Kausar Bi's dead body around two-km from Vanjhara's bungalow,'' a senior police officer told UNI.

''Later, the accused had disposed of Kausarbi's ashes in a well near the bungalow,'' said the officer.

A team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) from Gandhinagar was sent to assist Ms Johri. However, when asked by mediapersons, the investigators refused to divulge any details of the findings.

Meanwhile, the three arrested IPS officers- Vanjhara, Pandian (Superintendent in Intelligence Bureau) and Dinesh Kumar (Rajasthan Police)--will be produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Ahmedabad tomorrow as their remand ends on May 8.
