Delhi Govt yet to submit Yamuna Cleaning Scheme report to Centre
New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) The Delhi Government has so far not submitted any report on implementation of the Yamuna Cleaning Scheme to the Centre.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Namo Narain Meena said it had only received a copy of the project prepared by Delhi Jal Board for laying of interceptor sewers along the Najafgarh Supplementary and Shahdara drains through the Planning Commission.
On April 4, the Supreme Court had constituted a committee comprising multi-disciplinary experts from various agencies to examine the viability of the proposal.
The Minister said the Delhi Jal Board had also submitted a timeframe for enhancement of the utilisation of the existing sewage treatment capacities and also the creation of new capacities to the apex court.
The DJB targets to attain utilisation of sewage treatment capacity along with the implicit expansion of the capacity to the level of 2081 mld by December 2007, 2326 mld by December 2008, 2780 mld by 2009 and 3791 mld by 2015.
He said the targets were subject to the required budgetary and non-budgetary resources being available.
