Delhi continues to get respite from scorching heat
New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) A day after the national capital was lashed by short rains and thunderstorm, Delhiites continued to enjoy respite from scorching heat as the temperature hovered at around 37 degrees clesius, three degrees below normal.
Upper air circulation over Uttar Pradesh, which has set off cool North Easterly winds in Delhi in the last few days, maintained its influence over the capital.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
Yesterday immediately after the rain and thunderstorms, the day temperature fell by 7.5 degrees Celsius, to 31.5 degrees C.
In fact, after the end of the rainy spell, the maximum rose to 40.6 degrees C, one degree above normal.
Weatherman has forecast a rise in day temperatures in plains of Northwest India in the next two to three days.
''Current meteorological analysis suggests that a gradual rise in day temperatures is likely over plains of Northwest India, during the next two to three days,'' the weather office said.
The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with duststorms or thunderstorms likely towards the evening.
It has also forecast a rise in maximum temperature to 38 degrees C tomorrow.
