BJP flays Congress govt over allotment of land

Shillong, May 7 (UNI) The BJP today criticised the Congress-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance(MDA) government over the violation of state land laws by allotting plots to private parties in the name of industrial development of the state.

''The allotment of land to different private business entities in the name of industrial development is an abuse of the Single Window Policy,'' State BJP General Secretary, Professor P M Passah said.

He alleged that the rampant allotment of land for setting up of big industrial units in a small state like Meghalaya would lead to pollution.

Regretting that the people of the state had not been aware of this dangerous situation, Professor Passah urged the NGOs to be courageous and raise objections.

''Even if they support any particular party in the MDA government, they should not have remained mute to the 'anti-people policies' of the government,'' the BJP leader stated.

''The NGOs should wake up before it is too late,'' Mr Passah urged.
