Tirupati, May 7(UNI) Condemning the alleged high-handedness of the police against women during the 'bhuporatam' agitation yesterday at Tirupati Rural Mandal, CPM District Secretary K Murali said the agitation would continue till the government distributed the land to the poor.

Addressing the press here today, Mr Murali came down heavily on the revenue officials for allegedly allowing land grabbing and harassing the poor in the guise of rules for house site allotment.

The party will file a complaint with the human rights commission and women commission on the incident, he said.

He demanded the government call an all party meeting to discuss assigned lands issue for distribution to the poor and homeless people.

Strongly opposing the government move to amend the 'assigned lands act' to regularise their holdings by some people, he said this was nothing but cheating the poor people.

The sole aim of the move was to fill the pockets of ruling party leaders in the name of regularisation, benefiting big wigs, land lords and land grabbers who had forcibly occupied the lands of the poor, he alleged.
