Aurobindo Pharma gets USFDA nod for Zolpidem

New Delhi, May 7: Drug maker Aurobindo Pharma today said it has received USFDA's approval for Zolpidem tablets used for short term treatment of insomnia.

The company will now market its drug in the strengths of 5mg and 10mg, a statement said.

Zolpidem enjoys a market of around 2.1 billion dolllars in the US and belongs to the class of Imidazopyridines, medicines acting on central nervous system.

Zolpidem is the generic version of the brand 'Ambien' manufactured and sold by sanofi Aventis.
