AICC demands probe into CPI(M)'s forcible occupation of land
Hyderabad, May 7 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and MLC P Sudhakara Reddy today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government should order an inquiry into the forcible occupation of land by CPI(M) workers yesterday.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters 'Gandhi Bhavan here, he alleged that CPI(M) leaders were taking law and order in their hands.
He said the government should take stern action against the CPI (M) leaders who were creating law and order problems in the state.
Though the government was functioning in a transparent manner and initiating pro-people policies, the opposition parties in the state were creating hurdles for its development programmes, he alleged.
Mr Reddy said the government was committed to the welfare of the poor and to help them, the government had distributed 4.35 lakh acres of land to the landless and taken up several irrigation projects to provide water to backward areas.
He said the government had targetted to construct 50 lakh houses in the state and to spend Rs 500 crore under 'Indiraprabha' scheme to bring more land under cultivation.
The 'Re-dedication Day' of the party would be held here on May 14 to commemorate the third anniversary of the Congress returning to power in the state, he added.
