Acquisition of land for Smart City to be sorted out: CM

Kochi, May 7 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today expressed confidence over the issue of eviction of families from the proposed 'Smart City' Infopark site here being be sorted out amicably.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Achuthanandan said a major portion of the land had already been acquired and the grievances raised by 50-odd families, who had expressed dissatisfaction with the government's compensation package, would be sorted out.

The chief minister is expected to visit the site of the proposed infopark, to be set up by Dubai-based TECOM, later today.

On the encroachment of forest and government lands in Munnar, the chief minister said strict action would be taken against the encroachers and the officials who allegedly connived with them.

The state cabinet is to meet in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday to decide on further course of action in the matter, he added.
