3 lakh Gujarati women attain property ownership right: Modi

Kadi, Guj, May 7 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said three lakh women have benefited from his government's decision of allowing the right to ownership to women in all housing schemes of the State.

''The total exemption in stamp duty in property ownership documents for women, benefited lakhs of women who have become property owners in Gujarat,'' Mr Modi said, while addressing the 14th Mahila Mahasammelan or convention for women's empowerment in Budasan village near Kadi town of Mehsana district, about 50 km from the State capital of Gandhinagar.

''In the past one year, three lakh women have benefited from the right to property ownership. We have also made it compulsary to add mother's name while enrollment of her child in the school. For the woman workers of anganwadi (state run kindergarten) in the state, we have declared Yashoda Mata prize of Rs 51,000 at State level, Rs 31,000 at district level and Rs 21,000 at taluka level. That apart, the government has increased the monthly salary of anganwadi worker from Rs 500 to Rs 1000,'' he added.
