3 killed, 16 injured in accident

Kancheepuram, May 7 (UNI) Three persons, including a four-year-old child, were killed and 16 others injured when a car collided with a van at Ponnerkarai near here this afternoon.

Police said the car, in which eight persons including the four-year-old were travelling, was on its way to Chennai while it collided with a van, carrying 11 employees of Nokia plant.

The severely injured passengers of the car - Amminikutti(60), Aneesh Abraham (45) and Rigeeri (4)- succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital.

The injured were admitted to a private hospital near here, police added.
