Problems arising out of Mahajan Field will be sorted out : CM
Bikaneer, Apr 6 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today assured that the problems of farmers displaced by the Mahajan Firing Range in Bikaner district would be sorted out by June end.
''A solution will be found after consulting the peoples' representatives and the officers and the interest of the affected people will be fully taken care of,'' she said.
While addressing the farmers in the district, the Chief Minister, who is touring the Indira Gandhi Canal areas, while addressing the farmers in the district said the state government would purchase 20 machines to remove the silt in the canal.
She said for the first time efforts had been made to renovate the khalas for the canal area and a provision of Rs 50 crore earmarked for the purpose in the Budget.
The Chief Minister said Rs 125 crore would be spent on the maintenance and rennovation of the Indira Gandhi Canal in the coming years.
Ms Raje said the state government was conscious of the problems of the farmers and and would make efforts to supply water till the tail end of the canal.
Terming the canal area ''agriculture bowl of the state'', the Chief Minister said the state had touched new heights in agriculture production in recent times. She said even the Central government had acknowledged the achievements made by Jhalawar and Hanumangarh districts in the agricultural sector.
The district recently witnessed violent protest by farmers, demanding irrigation water.
